Digital Wellbeing Council - A College Social Responsibility - (First of Its Kind in Asia) by End Now Foundation: MVSR Engineering College- Digital Well-being Council will advocate on Internet ethics and digital wellness and evoke responsible online behavioral patterns among children, teens and women.
The Digital Wellbeing Council of MVSR Engineering College was initiated by MVSR ACM Student Chapter, Department of CSE on January 31st, 2020 under the guidance of Head of CSE Department/Training and Placement Officer/Chief Advisor MVSR ACM Prof. J.Prasanna Kumar, in the presence of Dr. Akhil Khare, Professor/Mentor MVSR ACM of CSE Department, founder and CEO of End Now Foundation, Anil Rachamalla. The event was followed by a session on “The need of digital safety “along with few other interactive activities like debate and picture interpretation on the lines of digital safety. The event was a grand success with more than 250 student participations.
The Digital Wellbeing Council (DWC) at MVSR Engineering College will consist of a faculty counselor Ms. P.Shalini, Asst.Prof. CSED followed by 10 Cyber Rakshaks from each department. This council will guide teens/youth on safe online monitoring and controlling capabilities. It will work on the fundamentals of Anti-Ragging Council and, apart from talks, will take up activities in a more informal way. Sessions that will be handled by subject matter experts include ‘Managing screens for healthy tech/life balance’, ‘Is it time for a digital detox?’, ‘Time to log off?’ and ‘Screens and mental health: How much is too much?’. This apart, issues such as fake news, misinformation and propaganda, digital hygiene and online reputation management will also be taken up.
